2017 was the first year we had two BBTXLs! Bill Merrill planned this second trip. We traveled west across Oregon departing Bend on 2017/07/16 and arriving in Astoria on 2017/07/21.

Day 1: Bend to Cougar Reservoir

After Sister is a bit of climb, but at the top is the incredible Dee Wright Observatory with panormaic views and hiking trails that snake through the lava fields.

Camping: Delta Campground (closed indefinitely in 2020 due to the Holiday Farm Fire)

Day 2: Cougar Reservoir to Eugene

Camping: Armitage Park Campground

Day 3: Eugene to Corvalis

Camping: Benton Oaks RV Park

Day 4: Corvalis to Grand Ronde

When we were there, the Oregon State Transportation employee who operated the ferry was selling ice cream sandwiches for $1; would recommend!

Lunch: Rouge Farm and Tasting Room (now closed)

Camping: Wandering Spirit RV Park

Day 5: Grand Ronde to Barview Jetty

Attraction: Tillamook Air Museum

Brewery: Pelican Brewery

Ice cream: Tillamook Dairy DO NOT MISS; their strawberry ice cream is transcendent

Camping: Bar View Jetty Park

Day 6: Barview Jetty to Astoria

Attraction: Lewis and Clark National Park. A good place to fill up water; there's also hiking trails and better-than-expected exhibits.

Day 7: Hanging out in Astoria

There is lots to see in town. There's a scenic riverwalk with lots of seafood, beer, and ice cream. The Columbia River Maritime Museum is great.

We ended by having a local bike shop pack up our bikes for shipping and took a bus back to Portland.
